Sausage & Pepper Stuffed Bread

A hearty stuffed bread layered with spicy sausage, tender peppers, and gooey provolone. It's simple to make, perfect for game day or a party.

Ingredients

  • 5 links spicy sausage uncased
  • 2 Fresno peppers sliced thin
  • 3 large poblano peppers deseeded and diced
  • 1 large red bell pepper deseeded and diced
  • 1 onion diced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup grated parm
  • 12 pepperoncini sliced
  • 12 slices provolone
  • 2 round 8-inch loaves of bread top cut off and most of the guts removed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  • Add the uncased sausage to a medium pan and cook over medium-high heat. Break it into small pieces as it browns.
  • Once cooked, add the onion, Fresno peppers, poblanos, red bell pepper, and salt. Lower heat to medium and cook until everything is tender.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the grated parmesan.
  • Place your bread loaves on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • For each bread, layer 3 slices of provolone (on the bottom), ½ the sausage mixture, ½ the pepperoncini, and 3 more slices of provolone (on the top).
  • Bake for 12 minutes on the middle rack.
  • Broil for 2 minutes until golden and melty on top.
