❤️ Why You’ll Love Big Mac Lettuce

With this Big Mac Lettuce Wrap, you get the full Big Mac experience without feeling weighed down afterward. The flavors are familiar and comforting, but the lettuce wrap makes it feel fresh and modern. It is fast enough for a weeknight, fun enough to serve to friends, and customizable for picky eaters and adults alike. It also happens to be a great option if you are looking for something protein-forward that still feels like a treat.

🍲 Ingredients

This Big Mac Lettuce Wrap recipe uses simple, easy-to-find ingredients, but each one plays an important role. The balance of creamy, salty, crunchy, and savory is what makes this wrap so satisfying.

🥬 Iceberg lettuce provides the perfect crisp, sturdy base and gives you that classic crunch with every bite.
🥩 Ground beef or turkey brings the savory, hearty element and makes these wraps filling and protein-rich.
🧅 Sweet yellow onion adds a subtle sweetness that balances the richness of the meat.
🧀 Cheddar cheese gives you that unmistakable Big Mac flavor and a little creamy sharpness.
🥒 Sweet pickles and pickle relish add tang, crunch, and that signature fast-food nostalgia.
🍅 Roma tomatoes bring freshness and a light acidity that keeps everything from feeling heavy.
🥣 Sour cream or Greek yogurt, mayo, ketchup, mustard, and spices combine to create a homemade Big Mac sauce that tastes spot-on but better.

👩‍🍳 How to Make Big Mac Lettuce Wrap

Start by making the sauce. Add all of the Big Mac sauce ingredients to a small bowl and mix until smooth and creamy. Taste it and try not to eat it straight from the spoon.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the minced onion, salt, and pepper. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent and your kitchen smells amazing. Add the ground meat and cook, breaking it up with a spatula as it browns. Once the meat is fully cooked, remove the skillet from the heat and let it cool slightly so it does not wilt the lettuce.

Lay a piece of parchment paper on your counter and place a lettuce leaf on top. Spoon a few tablespoons of the seasoned meat into the center, followed by a rounded tablespoon of sauce, diced red onion, tomato slices, pickles, and half a slice of cheddar. Fold the lettuce around the filling like a burrito, then wrap it snugly in parchment paper. Repeat until all wraps are assembled.

🪄 Tips and Tricks

  • Choose the outer leaves of the iceberg for the best shape and crunch.
  • Let the meat cool slightly before assembling so the lettuce stays crisp.
  • If you like extra sauce, make a double batch and keep it on the side for dipping.
  • Parchment paper makes these easier to eat and keeps everything neatly tucked in.

🗒 Substitutions

  • Ground turkey works beautifully if you want something lighter than beef.
  • Greek yogurt can fully replace sour cream in the sauce for extra protein.
  • If iceberg lettuce is not your thing, butter lettuce or romaine leaves will also work, though they are a bit softer.

How to Store Leftovers

You’ll want to store any Big Mac Lettuce Wrap leftovers separately. Cooked meat can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days. Keep the sauce separate in its own container. Wash and dry the lettuce and store it wrapped in paper towels to keep it crisp.

🤔 Common Questions

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes. Prep all the components ahead and assemble right before eating for the best texture.

Can kids eat these?

Yes! My daughter & son loved them as is, but you can also deconstruct them for younger kids or serve the filling with bread or rice on the side.
